Robots on the Oregon Trail, you bet. Learners will code, engineer cargo vessels, and encounter numerous challenges traveling from Independence, MO to Oregon City, OR.The main focus is for the learner to work in teams to solve a complex problem by breaking it down into smaller parts.

Challenge Criteria: Engineering teams will design and build a working prototype that will meet the needs of settlers on the Oregon Trail. Prototypes must: be able to carry cargo, be covered, and be pulled by an outside force on the Oregon Trail.

The Prototype Team engineers a covered structure that is able to carry cargo and can attach to a spherical robot. The Coding Team develops a programmed sequence for their robot to navigate a course without hitting barriers. Having limited time to build and test, decisions must be made quickly and teamwork skills applied. Brilliant failures and unexpected success will be had by all. Come and “work the problem” in this hands-on, collaborative, and easily applicable session.
